Antique French Gilt Brass Gothic Clock, Circa 1880

19th century
Description

Antique French Gilt Brass Gothic Clock.

Fast worldwide shipping.

~ French - Circa 1880 ~

~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled & working ~~

A lovely and very decorative clock of gilded brass. It is shallow enough to fit on most mantles but could also be displayed as a table clock. It is modelled in the Gothic style and has a fretted panel to the front to allow the pendulum to be seen swinging within the case. To each side of the fretted panel are reeded columns and above the dial is a pierced top with a finial.

The dial is also brass and is mounted with 12 individual enamel cartouches and is covered by convex glass. It is complete with original fretted, blued steel hands. The rear door of the clock is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen.

The French movement is of very high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish and there are no losses. There is some minor wear and discolouration. The dial has some slight chipping around the winding holes.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.

Dimensions of clock:

inches Height 16", Width 9", Depth 4 1/4"

centimetres Height 40.5 cm, Width 23 cm, Depth 10.5 cm
