Arts & Crafts Cast Iron Tavern Table C.1890.

Description

Rare late 19th.c. Arts & Crafts cast iron tavern table c.1890. 23" diameter solid mahogany top with moulded edge. On a superb cast iron base with unusual Arts & Crafts or Art Nouveau frieze of stylized flower heads around the apron. Slim reeded legs joined with a pierced stretcher (with a hole at the centre – ideal for holding a garden umbrella). Claw feet cast with a hole in each allowing it to be screwed to the floor suggesting it may have been intended for use on a ship perhaps. With registered design numbers inside each leg. Excellent condition.
