Antique silver Dyer full hunter pocket watch with chain.

The watch has a ¾ plate English movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the name Dyer.

George Dyer was listed as a goldsmith and watchmaker who traded from 90 Regent Street in London. In 1878 Dyer was adjudged bankrupt although in 1881 he was appears to have been trading again as he is listed as a watchmaker and jeweller

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has Dyer's details.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is stamped as being “Fine Silver”. The case is in lovely condition and has engine turned detail to both the front and back.

Whereas sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, fine silver is 99.9% silver so would have been more expensive at the time of manufacture.

The little button on top of the stem pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is a glass lens which is in good condition.

The enamel dial has the number 37553, this number is also on the case to confirm that the components are original to each other. The dial is in very nice condition.

The watch comes with a silver double chain, with each length measuring 23cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The chain is hallmarked for 1924 with a maker's mark for the Birmingham silversmith Henry Pope. Each of the links on the chain has the lion silver mark.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
