Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1920s.
There’s more carvings around the bottom of the frame too. This sofa is very fine quality, in good condition & structurally sound. There is one small repair to the cane on one of the back panels, showing in the images. It’s a small piece of patching & was like this when we got it. It’s not that noticeable, being on the lower back & certainly doesn’t affect the overall tightness of that particular cane panel, plus there is another cane panel inside of that. This panel could be re-caned, but it’s really not worth doing, because of the cost & time to do it. All the panels are double cane, which is always a sign of better quality. I would date this sofa to around the 1920-30’s period. If you feel the upholstery is too light for you & I understand that not everyone wants it that light, we can arrange recovering for about £300-£400 plus fabric. It’s still a very reasonable price for an antique sofa of this quality.
