Stunning Edwardian Silver Trinket Box Mappin & Webb

A stunning solid silver circular Trinket Box by the renowned silversmiths: Mappin & Webb. The engraving to the lid is extremely attractive featuring neat rows with orderly diamond shapes engraved within the rows. There is an empty circular cartouch in the centre. Both the lid and the base have a lovely protruding border. The lid is hinged and opens and closes nicely. Clear hallmarks are visible when the lid is opened on one side of the box for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1908 and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver, along with the maker''s marks for Mappin & Webb. There are also partial hallmarks to the inside of the lid.
 
The proportions of the box are perfect; measuring 7.4 cm diameter approx.
