Collinge Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The short drawer to one end is a very unusual feature, unbalancing the traditional symmetry of Georgian era design. It’s presence is explained with a charming handwritten inscription in ink on the side of the drawer recording it as being made specially for a new born member of the family.

Dated May 1825 it read: ‘This drawer was made for (Miss?) Jane Kendrick. April 29th 1825 Between 3 & 4 O’clock in the evening. God save us all and keep us from sin’.
Cockbeaded oak drawer fronts with shield shaped bone escutcheons and original brass swan neck handles. Over a simple straight apron and raised on tapering square stiles. Oak panelled sides, deal drawer linings and a single piece elm back board. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.
Dimensions: width 98", depth 20½", height 34".
