Antique Longcase Clock

18th century
Description

A Scottish oak and mahogany crossbanded longcase clock with a swan neck hood pediment. Fluted hood columns and trunk sides. A re-entrant panelled base moulding. An arched brass and silvered dial with fine central engraving. A date aperture and seconds dial. Cast corner spandrels and blued steel hands. An 8-day mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

John Adamson of Kilmarnock is listed in Whytes' 'Scottish Clock and Watchmakers' book as working circa 1780.
