Victorian Silver Card Case 1859

19th century
Description

A fabulously decorated Solid Silver Card Case made by the well-known and sought after silversmiths, Hilliard & Thomason in 1859.

Of shaped oblong form with an all over engine turned pattern to the front which is bordered by superbly engraved scroll work of flowers and scrolls with a central bordered blank cartouche.

The Card Case has no added engravings, monograms or initials, the lid closes tightly, is of a size that can still be used with today's business / credit cards etc. and whilst there is a few signs of wear this lovely piece is in superb condition despite being almost 160 years old.

This is a real collector's item which would complement any collection.

Condition:

Used / Excellent

There is no damage and no repairs.

One small ding to one corner and one or two minor usage dinks – nothing much but mentioned for accuracy.

Dimensions:

Length – 3.75” (95mm) / Width – 2.75” ( 69mm)

Weight – 53.4gm / 1.72 ozt
