Description

A natural camel-hair field dominates the centre of this charming little prayer-rug with 'trees-of-life' symbolising the '3-level universe' - the roots of the tree in the underworld; the trunk in the earthly world and the branches in the realms of the spirit. Made by Baluch nomads in Khorassan, north-eastern Persia circa 1900. Apart from the bottom border having been re-woven very well at some point in the past, the rug is in very good overall condition.

Size: 1.45m x 0.92m (4' 9" x 3' 0").
