Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco bedroom furniture from the 1930s is characterised by streamlined geometric silhouettes, curved corners, and rich veneer work. Pieces often incorporated integrated functionality, such as bedside cabinets connected directly to the headboard, celebrating both modernism and craftsmanship.

Craftspeople during this era frequently utilised figured timber veneers, including birds-eye maple, walnut, and satinwood, applied over solid hardwood frames. Crossbanding in contrasting dark woods, steam-bent plywood curves, and flush-mounted drawer handles were common construction highlights.

Authentic period pieces display genuine timber veneers with natural variations, dovetailed drawer joints within integrated nightstands, and original Bakelite or metal hardware. Look for characteristic 1930s construction markers under the frame, such as solid softwood or oak secondary timbers.

Anchor the piece against a muted or textured accent wall, allowing the warm honey tones of the maple veneer to stand out. Complement the geometric structure with minimalist crisp linen bedding and subtle metallic accents like polished brass or chrome table lamps.

Dust regularly with a clean, soft microfibre cloth and avoid placing the bedstead near direct heat sources or strong sunlight, which can dry out or bleach the veneer. Periodically apply a high-quality beeswax polish along the grain to nourish the timber finish and prevent cracking.
