A Bronze Statue by Feridah Francis Forbes ‘Taylor’

Description

A 19th century (1931) bronze statue by Feridah Francis Forbes with a foundry mark of the famous Claude And Attilio Valsuani.

Reported to be of Bertrand Russel. Signed and dated. The Valsuani foundry quickly acquired a reputation for its works by Degas, Rodin, Renoir and Gauguin also for the outstanding mastery of lost wax casting.

Claude Valsuani died in 1923 in Italy but his son Marcele took over the running of the foundry and continued to produce extremely fine detailed bronzes.

An example of one of Feridahs works is from the collection of the Royal society, FARADAY (1791-1867) which was presented by Sir Robert Hadfield FRS 1936.
