The pentagonal shape at the top of the cross is referred to as the 'kejebe' and symbolised power and fertility.
This engsi, which is in very good overall condition, was made by Teke tribes around 1870-1880 and incorporates a beautiful, glowing natural madder-red.
Size: 1.40m x 1.30m (4' 7" x 4' 3").
