George III Mahogany Inlaid Chippendale Style Moonphase Longcase Clock By J Evans C1814 With Kempson And Felton Dial

Sold by: Overton Clocks of Chesterfield ltd

A lovely early 19th century Mahogany longcase clock with very rare Kempson and Felton moonphase dial by the Kidderminster Maker J Evans.
The beautifully painted dial depicting the four corners of the known world with the moonphase disc displaying a tall ship and architecture scene as well as the well painted moons was painted by the firm Kempson and Felton. This company only traded for 3 years from 1812 to 1815. Making this clock datable to within that period.
The beautifully aged mahogany case has inlaid crossbanding to the case door and base and is without looses. The Corinthian columns to the hood and case are finished in gilt brass finials, the hood being finished with typical Chippendale style capitals.
The knopped pillar movement ahs been well made and has not been subjected to poor repairs in the past, I have totally overhauled the movement so that I can give you a full guarantee on your purchase.
note - The rosettes and middle finial to the top have been sent away and are currently being repaired and will be refitted soon.
