Antique Longcase Clock

Description

A small North Wales oak and mahogany crossbanded and inlaid longcase clock. A swan-neck hood pediment and brass capped fluted hood columns. Brass capped fluted trunk side columns and marquetry inlay to the re-entrant base panel. An attractive square painted dial with gilt corners and roses to the dial centre. Date and seconds indicators. An 8-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell.

John Smith of Wrexham is recorded in Peates' 'Clock and Watchmakers in Wales' book as working in York Street until 1830.
