Gents 1950s Aster Bumper Automatic Wrist Watch

Gents 1950s Aster bumper automatic wrist watch.

The watch has a Swiss 17-jewel bumper automatic movement which is working nicely. Early automatic watches relied on the rotor ‘bumping’ backwards and forwards between two springs to maintain the power within the movement. Later automatic watches have the fully rotational rotor.

The watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is plated and has a stainless steel screw-on case back. It is in good condition, as is the lens.

The signed dial is in its original finish and it is in lovely condition with just minor marking. The brand name Aster with the star above was registered in 1902 by the Swiss company Louis Muller & Cie and then the same mark was registered by Nicolet Watch Company in 1956, suggesting Nicolet took over the company of Louis Muller.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
