Egyptian Revival French Regulator Clock C1850

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Overton Clocks of Chesterfield ltd

An absolutely stunning Egyptian Revival French regulator of large proportions.
The excellent condition Belgian black marble case being decorated with hieroglyphics symbols to the for corners and a winged motif to the base. The Sphinx bronze to the top is of a good quality and along with the case, makes this a very heavy and stable clock. I have taken the bronze off the clock to inspect it and there does not appear to be any names on it.
The eight inch perfectly white and undamaged porcelain dial looks impressive with its external visible deadbeat escapement. The bridges and clock bezel have been gilt and retains a lovely patina to it.
The 21 day movement is shown unrestored, but is currently making its way across my bench to receive a full overhaul.
