A Victorian Half Bell Doorstop

19th century
Description

Circa 1900 - possibly hand made or made to order, a door porter made from half a bell filled with lead, and fitted with a solid brass decorative handle.

It was usual in those days to convert household items and turn them into something useful, and this could be one of those items.

The door stop measures 45.5cm in height and the bell is 13cm at the widest part and 10cm in height. The brass used to make bells was slightly different to standard brass, so there is a slight difference in colour between the bottom and the handle.

It is very heavy, weighing 3.3kgs. Postage and packing within the UK mainland only is included in the price. For outside areas or abroad, please contact us for a delivery quote.
