17th. Century Oak Sword Chest. Circa 1670

Description

Fine late 17th. century oak long sword chest of simple construction, with finely caved front and chip carved side edges of lid. All in un-touched original condition with original pin hinges and lock plate and hasp. A little old and very dead worm here and there (treated) as would be expected. Wonderful rich dark colour with superb waxed patina and as dry as a bone inside. As good as you get of its kind.

Size; 50" long, 17" deep, 20" high
