A Mahogany French Empire Style Canapé

Description

A mahogany French Empire Style canapé. Having a shaped mahogany back with a finely cast ormolu appliqué, and laurel leaf ormolu mounts to the ends. The open arms with cast ormolu caryatids, upholstered in Napoleonic silk, probably the original and supported on square tapering supports with ormolu paw feet. French circa 1900 in the Empire taste circa 1800-1820

Dimensions: 40" high x 51" wide x 22" deep (seat height 17")

Condition: This canapé is in superb condition, the original silk fabric is ripped along the edge of the seat
