This solid silver trinket box can only be described as absolutely superb! Of perfect proportions, the rectangular box is very decorative with the most captivating repousse work to the lid and also around the body of the box. The decoration includes cupids , one with bow and one blowing his horn, along with beasts of the forest including birds, squirrels, running hares, flowers and foliage - wonderful!The border around the edge of both the lid and the base are crimped - enhancing the lovely aesthetics of this item. When opened the interior is a lovely golden gilt.Clear hallmarks are visible on both the inside of the lip and the lid (see images) for the London Assay Office with a date mark for 1901 along with the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver and the maker''s marks for Goldsmiths & Silversmiths.
