John Howkins Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The cornice has a pierced and carved crown with gilded decoration. The door mouldings, stiles, corbel carvings, drawer and plinth all with original subtle gilding. Locks by "Hobbs + Co" with original key. This fine Victorian bookcase bears the brass plaque of the maker " Hewetson & Milner, The Exchange, 211, 212 Tottenham Court Road" London.

In superb original condition with 2 slight speckled spots on right hand door mirror (visible on photos).
