Description

Large 17th.c. oak chest or coffer dated 1678. Four panel lid and front with moulded rails, mullions and stiles. Delightful original carved detail to the top rail with interlocking heart shaped motifs, the initials GW and the date 1678. Further carved detail to the centre panels and applied mouldings to the two end panels. Panelled sides and rear, thick oak boards in the base. Good condition, very solid and sturdy and excellent colour. Later metal hinges and lock plate.Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
