A GEORGIAN MERCURY BAROMETER

in a mahogany case with an architectural pediment and brass finial. Marquetry shell inlays to the case of good colour and patination. Satinwood inlays to the case edging. Signed to the silvered engraved dial 'J Silve, Plymouth'. Circa 1820.

Silve of Plymouth is recorded in Banfields' 'Barometer Makers and Retailers' book as working at 9, East Street in circa 1820.
