This figure was produced in Germany c 1910. He produced a number of sculptures of blacksmiths, masons at work, athletes and warriors. Before Word War I he had gained fame and exhibited his works in nearly every famous gallery in Europe. He lived in Paris until 1914. He was regarded as one of the premier sculptors ever produced by Germany and his work is featured in many museums and private collections in Europe.
