French Bronze "Baccanalian" Dancer by Faure

Description

FAURE: a charming Art Nouveau period French BRONZE SCULPTURE of a naked young "Baccanalian" dancer who performs holding a bunch of grapes in her right hand and a tambourine in her left, whilst a small sprig of vine leaves covers her modesty.

This amusing and delightful bronze is signed to the base and retains its original warm colour and patina. 17ins (43cms) high.

***Vincent-Desire Faure de Brousse, a French sculptor, was a student of Hugo Salmson in Paris. He presented some of his work at the Paris Salon 1876-1883 and died in 1908.
