A Gorgeous Silver & Tortoiseshell Pot Pouree Box

A gorgeous Edwardian silver pot pouree box. This lovely piece is of rounded form with a pull off lid, decorated with inlaid pique work to the tortoiseshell. The interior is fully gilded. Small pieces like this were used to scent cupboards or chests of drawers and were filled with violets or other fragrant petals. They were also component parts of large travelling toiletry sets and are not often found. A good collector's piece, both decorative and practical. Dimensions below.
