Regency Dressing Table C.1820.

19th century
Description

Regency era mahogany dressing table or writing desk of striking design c.1820. Flame mahogany veneered top with a diagonally crossbanded border and a raised gallery to the back and sides. Over two drawers and a two door cupboard set back from the front edge to create a kneehole, and fitted with a single shelf inside. The doors are held closed with a sprung catch cleverly hidden below the overhang. Matching figured flame mahogany veneers across the front, gadroon mouldings around the narrow panels either side of the doors and original turned knobs. Raised on crisply turned front legs. Some old marks to the top otherwise excellent original colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
