Antique Oak And Leather Desk Armchair By Gillow, Circa 1840

This large oak and old tan leather upholstered desk armchair is stamped “Gillow” twice to the seat rails.
It has an oval studded and padded leather back surrounded by the moulded oak frame. The scrolling arms have baluster turned supports and the shaped padded seat has a bow front and serpentine sides.
The chair stands on turned and fluted front legs which terminate in the original brass cup castors.
To find a desk chair by the famous furniture manufacturer Gillow of Lancaster is rare and their trade stamp is a sure sign of quality.
