Japy Freres Ormolu and Porcelain Antique Boudoir Clock

Description

~ French - Circa 1860 ~

~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~

A beautiful and early antique French clock by the famous maker Japy Freres. It is modelled in ormolu (finely gilded bronze), mounted with beautiful porcelain with a blue ground decorated with flaming torche, quiver of arrows and a pair doves. To the top is an ormolu torche and quiver of arrows.

The dial porcelain enamel on copper with finely fretted gilt hands. It is signed for the Paris retailer Voigt. The rear door is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen.

The French movement is of high quality and is by Japy Freres. It has the early Japy mark of 1855. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. We have a video on our website of the clock running, please ask and we will send you a link.

Condition of the case is excellent, beautifully clean and bright with slight wear and discolouration. The dial is also in excellent condition just small nibbles to the next to the winding holes.

Japy Freres clockmaker's mark on the movement backplate. The dial is signed for the Paris retailer Voigt.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
