Antique Japanese Polychrome Bowl

1900 - 1920
Description

The centre of this beautiful Japanese bowl is painted with blue chrysanthemums, foliage and rocks on a yellow stippled ground, the edge with a green trellis design in the same yellow shade. The outside of the bowl is painted with black foliage on a green ground. There are character marks to the base. There is a slight distortion to a part of the rim, a lovely quirky feature! this was obviously done by the potter and the decoration is completely intact and the condition of the bowl is very good. The strong jewel colours and very decorative design make this a very unusual piece.
