Description

Superb quality little early 19th.c. mahogany side table c.1820. Inlaid to resemble a chest of three drawers, actually the top lifts to reveal useful storage space over a single working drawer below. Unusually the design is repeated on the rear with three dummy drawer fronts. Raised on crisply turned legs joined with crossed stretchers with ebony stringing. Original brass cup castors and lion’s mask handles on the sides. Mahogany lined interior and drawer. Fountain pen inscription inside dated 1910 and recording it as a gift to one Gordon Bertram Rix from his Grandma. Some obvious old marks to the top, otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
