Description

A fine 18th Century joined oak linen press cupboard, attributed to Lancashire.
The upper section has a moulded cornice above two cupboard doors. Each door composed of a pair of vertical fielded panels over a horizontal one, flanking central fielded panels with a shaped arch to the top. The doors opening to reveal hanging space extending into the box compartment of the base section with five fielded panels to the front over three mid section drawers and two base drawers. The drawers are manufactured entirely of the same, heavy mahogany as the main panels and frame.
The drawers and doors are fitted with oval brass knob handles and the doors have oval brass key hole guards. There is a key that fits and operates to both doors. The cupboard stands on stile supports and the dimensions are 195 cm (76.75) high, 156cm (61.5 inches) wide, by 54cm (21 inches) deep.
This is a fabulous and authentic English country house cupboard which is understood to have been from within an English country home for generations before recently coming on the market.
