one side stained red, the other side left natural, kings surmounted with Maltese crosses, queens with fleur de lys, bishops with open mitres, knights as finely carved horses' heads with flared nostrils and manes, rooks as castles or turrets, pawns with reeded ball finials, the white king with the Lund stamp to the base (fine impression): LUND...MAKER...24 FLEET ST.
