An Edwardian Silver 'Fishing Reel' Inkwell

1900 - 1920
Description

A handsome Edwardian silver inkwell in the shape of a fishing reel. This appealing piece has a large flat base with banded detail, which is neatly repeated to the body. The lid is hinged and finished with a shaped knop. The ink reserve is attractively gilded to the inside and also fitted with a glass liner. A great piece of Edwardian deskware. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Very good. There are a couple of small blemishes to the sides of the inkwell, commensurate with age and use.

Hallmarks :- Softening but readable.

Date :- Birmingham 1903.

Maker :- Henry Matthews.
