Description

A superb 19th Century writing desk or dressing table made of mahogany with an arrangement of 9 drawers around a central cupboard, set back into the kneehole. There is a raised shaped gallery along the back and chamfering along the edges of the pedestals. Each drawer and cupboard has small turned knobs. A few have suffered small chips over the years but they are all original.

The desk is in excellent condition and is clean and tidy throughout, having been beautifully refinished and sympathetically restored. The timber is top quality and the patina on the mahogany is wonderful. The drawers open well and are in good clean condition. There are some minor signs of wear and age and some small knocks around the base but overall it displays beautifully and is ready for use.

It is a good large size with a generous kneehole measuring 23 1/2" (60cm) x 20 1/2" (52cm).
