Japanese Imari Barbers Bowl, C. 1700, Genroku Period.

Description

Japanese porcelain ‘Barbers bowl’, Arita, c. 1700, Genroku Period. The bowl hand painted in Imari style, with a large vase of flowers to the centre. The broad rim, with a crescent shaped recess, and painted with panels of floral scroll, upon a underglaze blue ground, with further flower heads.

Having two pierced holes for suspension.

Diameter - 25.3 cm, 10”.

Height - 7cm, 2 3/4”.

Condition - Sealed crack to the rim, around one of the pierced holes. Please see images for detail. No restoration.
