A highly decorative 19th Century red lacquered Japanese shodona cabinet, having a large dragon pediment above the cabinet with the head looking over the carved cornice, the cabinet consisting of various shelves, hinged and sliding doors, with three drawers at the bottom, at the centre of the cabinet having a mirror back which includes decorative steps, the whole piece is profusely carved all over and having lovely carved detail on the door & panel fronts, the carved stand carved with birds and a grotesque mask at the centre, supported on cabriole legs with birds heads and wings. Superb quality and in excellent condition. Circa 1880.
