A fine pair of Japanese Meiji period Satsuma vases decorated by Okamoto Ryozan, the Yasuda trading company’s leading decorator, each vase depicts a group of Bijin in a garden setting with a lake and mountainous landscape as the backdrop. Finished with an intricate border on the shoulder each vase is beautifully detailed and signed by Okamoto Ryozan beneath the Shimazu mon on the underside, with typical crackle glaze. Both vases are in very good condition with no damage or restoration and each vase stands 5 inches tall.
