Wooden Games Box

1900 - 1920
Description

An early 1900's wooden folding games box in the form of a book.

The false spines are printed 'english games' and 'vol i/ii'

The box is covered in printed paper to simulate leather, with both chess board and backgammon board, there is even watermarked paper to simulate the page edges. A few tears, splits and marks but nothing to really deter the overall look

This type of box was frequently sold in gammages and similar outlets in the early 1900's

Comes with card dice shaker, two dice (plastic unfortunately), 20 boxwood and ebonised pieces (short, for a full game), and a book of backgammon rules.

Measures 13.5 by 6.5 by 2.5 ins closed

Not perfect but very decorative
