In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1930s.
It was originally made as a sofa bed but the bulky sprung mattress has been removed and a new internal wooden frame has been built. As a result, the back panel has been replaced and it has a new hessian-covered base.
It is in very good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. It has developed a lovely worn and aged patina without any major damages and has been treated with a leather enriching cream to preserve that patina. There are signs of age and wear and various marks and scuffs around the sofa but nothing detrimental.
The sofa measures approximately 66" (168cm) long by 52" (82cm) high and 34" (86cm) deep.
