Fabulous Antique English Sterling Silver Horseshoe Jewellery Box by Mappin and Webb

Description

This must be my favourite silver jewellery box I have had in a very long time, beautifully elegant and in the form of a horseshoe, perfect for the equestrian devotee.

The top of the box has the most exquisite engine turned decoration with a vacant circular cartouche in the centre.

The hinged lid fits well and once opened reveals the original silk and velvet lining. The velvet raised platform to the rear has three cut-outs for three rings. The interior of the lid is lavishly gilded.

The box is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1912 together with the makers mark for the top-notch silversmith, Mappin & Webb.

Excellent condition measuring 4 1/4" x 3" x 1 1/2".
