Christian Davies Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1870s.
With three rectangular oak lined drawers, each with stylish brass handles with remnants of polychrome detail. Having twin panelled doors with fine marquetry and pewter inlaid circular panels depicting the tree of life with further gothic detail. The central section with similar gothic pierced fretwork panels, standing on chamfered and carved stile supports and having similar inlaid panels and details to the ends. English circa 1870-1880

John Moyr Smith was an accomplished designer and draughtsman and was best know for his designs for tiles, usually for Minton and depicting Shakespearian scenes, although he did design many pieces of furniture, most of which was produced by Cox and Son. (1839-1912)
Condition: Excellent original condition, waxed in our workshop
