Rare Goncarlo Alvez Wine Table by Gillows of Lancaster C.1840.

Description

Exceptional mid 19th.c. wine table by the great British cabinet makers Gillows of Lancaster c.1840. Of the highest quality, in goncarlo alvez a South American exotic hardwood with a similar appearance to rosewood. 21" x 26" top with goncarlo veneers laid in a symmetrical pattern onto solid mahogany groundwork, with a deep gadroon carved edge and crossbanded apron. Raised on a solid turned column and tripod base with beautiful carved acanthus detail to the feet. Stamped Gillows Lancaster on the underside. Excellent colour and condition.
