In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
They have bulbous turned front legs and splayed rear legs. The front legs have the original brass casters to make the chairs easier to pull out from the table - a sign of quality at the time of being made.
The chairs have been very recently re-upholstered in a good quality William Morris Sanderson fabric which compliments the chairs beautifully.
The chairs are a standard size with a generous comfortable seat which is 17 1/2" (45cm) high.
They are in excellent condition with a rich patina. The seats are firm and comfortable and the joints are strong. There are a few minor knocks and light scuffs around the legs and some minor age-related marks here and there but nothing detrimental. They have all been cleaned and lightly polished and they are a good sturdy set of chairs, ready for use.
