A Fine English Sterling Silver Photograph Frame by William Hutton

1900 - 1920
Sold by Puckerings
Description

A truly fabulous sterling silver photograph frame, really elegant and by a top-notch silversmith, William Hutton and Sons.

The frame was clearly made to be retailed in India, and is lucky enough to have retained the silk behind the glass printed in gold for Hamilton & Co., Jewellers and Silversmiths, Calcutta and Simla. Hamilton & Co. is probably the best known and celebrated British silversmith operating in India (he was known as the Garrard of India). Hamilton and Co. had a Royal Warrant "By Appointment to His Majesty The King", King Edward VII.

There is a full English hallmark for Birmingham 1903, Edwardian in era, together with the makers mark for William Hutton.

The back of the frame is lucky enough to have survived including the folding easel stand (wear to velvet).

A very stylish and elegant frame in excellent condition and a good size measuring 9 1/2" x 7 1/4" with a glazed aperture measuring 7 7/8" x 5 3/4".

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
