Silver Antiques Online has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
This lovely Tea Caddy Spoon was made in 1813 and despite being 204 years old it is in excellent condition with no splits or repairs and the engraved decoration is as lovely now as the day it was crafted.

The bowl of the caddy spoon is a shovel shape with the edges raised so the tea doesn't fall when being scooped up and the bright cut engraved decoration has wonderfully rope-twist detail in an engraved border running around the bowl and is then finished with a delicate double dotted design which in turn frames the centre of the bowl beautifully. The stem handle is crafted in the fiddle pattern which was typical of the Georgian period and again has lovely bright cut engraving running up the stem and finished at the top with a matching double border of dotted engraving. The quality of the craftsmanship is as you would expect superb being crafted by William Pugh.
This will add something very special to any collection.
