Regency Ebonsied Bracket Clock by Griffin & Adams London

19th century
Description

A good quality 8 day Regency ebonsied lancet top bracket clock by Griffin & Adams of the Strand, London. Circa 1815.

The well proportioned ebonised case with raised cockbeaded mouldings and finely cut brass inlays, mounted on four brass bun feet. The case sides with silk lined cast brass fishscale sound frets and lions head handles. Cast brass bezel and convex glass.

The engraved and silvered convex dial with Roman numerals and signed to the dial centre for Griffin and Adams London.

The excellent quality fully restored, five pillar chain driven twin fusee movement of 8 day duration, striking the hours on a single bell, with pull repeat action.

The movement with shaped plates and well executed engraving to the border and pendulum.

The fine quality pendulum engraved with flower to the centre and engraved calibration markings.

Original finely fretted blued steel hands.

Original locks and key.

A good quality clock in fine original condition with the movement fully restored.

All of our clock movements are restored by our horologist who works exclusively for us.

Our horologist is a Fellow of the British Horological Institute (FBHI), having 35 years of full time professional engagement in the repair & restoration of clocks, watches, music boxes & barometers. He was the recipient of the 1977 Worshipful Company of Clockmakers Bronze Medal.
