17th.c. Oak Six Plank Chest C.1630.

Description

Delightful little 17th.c. oak six plank chest or coffer c.1630. Just 35" wide, constructed from six solid oak boards and fitted inside with a small compartment, the hinged lid forming a stay for the coffer lid. Simple moulded detail to the edges of the lid and front board. Original iron hoop hinges and lock plate. Generally the box survives in very good original unrestored colour and condition. With some damage to the bottom edges and feet, also wear to the timber around the right hand hinge means there is some lateral movement to the lid.

Dimensions: width 35", depth 12", height 18".
