Antique Georgian Country Oak Bureau Bookcase C1780

Antique Georgian Country Oak Bureau Bookcase and dating from around 1880. Constructed from solid oak it has a moulded cornice top above two glazed doors with brass escutcheon and working key and with three internal adjustable shelves. To the base there are two candle slides ( please see photo) above a panelled fall front with brass escutcheon which opens to reveal a solid oak interior with a long drawer to the centre above six pigeon holes and two short drawers and flanked on either side by two further pigeon holes over two short drawers to one side and to the other side there is a single drawer above an open letter space.

The desk sits above two short drawers over two long drawers all of which are oak lined with brass escutcheons and original brass swan neck handles. It is raised on bracket feet and the top separates from the base for ease of transporting,
