Antique silver Cyma half hunter pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a signed stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside London (import mark), 1918 with an importer's mark for George Stockwell.

From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The front cover has a small lens surrounded by dark blue enamel filled Roman numerals. The case has a couple of small “dings” to the front and some unevenness to the back.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition. The dial is in lovely condition with original blued steel hands (including the special half hour hand), a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes with a single silver chain which measures 32cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The chain is hallmarked for 1893, with a maker's mark for the Birmingham based gold and silver chain maker Charles Broughton. Each of the links has the lion passant silver mark.

Also included is a silver swivel with bloodstone and carnelian, hallmarked for 1892 with the same maker's mark for Charles Broughton. It is unusual to have a piece where all the chain components and the fob are original to each other.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
